മുത്ത് നബിﷺ എല്ലാവരുടെയും ശ്രദ്ധാകേന്ദ്രമായി മക്കയിൽ വളരുകയാണ്. അതേ സമയം തന്നെ ലോകത്തിന്റെ പലഭാഗത്തും വാഗ്ദത്ത പ്രവാചകനെ കുറിച്ചുളള ചർച്ചകൾ വർദ്ധിച്ചു വരുന്നു. ലോകം മുഴുവൻ നന്മയുടെ ഒരു ദൂതന് വേണ്ടി കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇരുട്ട് കനത്ത് കനത്ത് ഒരു പ്രകാശ രേണുവിന് വേണ്ടി പരിസരങ്ങൾ മുഴുവൻ യാചിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
ഇതെല്ലാം ഒത്തു കൂടിയപ്പോൾ വാഗ്ദത്ത പ്രവാചകനെ മുഹമ്മദ് നബിﷺയിൽ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും. പ്രസ്തുത വിവരം പങ്കുവെക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ചില സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ച് നമുക്ക് വായിക്കാം.
വരാനുള്ള പ്രവാചകനെ സംബന്ധിച്ച ചർച്ചകൾ വേദക്കാർക്കിടയിൽ സജീവമായി. ഒപ്പം ജോത്സ്യന്മാരും പണ്ഡിറ്റുകളും പറയാൻ തുടങ്ങി. അന്നു മക്കയിൽ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന ദാർശനികർ അന്വേഷണങ്ങൾ ആരംഭിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ മക്കയിൽ ഒരുത്സവ കാലം. 'ബുവാന' വിഗ്രഹത്തെ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുളള ആഘോഷമാണ്. എല്ലാ വർഷവും നടന്നു വരുന്ന ആചാരങ്ങളുടെ തുടർച്ചയാണ്. ബലിയറുത്തും അർച്ചനകൾ സമർപ്പിച്ചും മക്കക്കാരെല്ലാം അവിടെ സംഗമിക്കും. ഇതിനിടയിൽ നാലാളുകൾ അതീവ സ്വകാര്യമായി ഒരു ചർച്ചയിൽ ഒത്തുകൂടി. ചർച്ചയും തീരുമാനങ്ങളും സ്വകാര്യമായിരിക്കണം എന്ന് പരസ്പരം ധാരണയായി. അവർ ഏകോപിച്ച ചർച്ചയുടെ മർമ്മം ഇതായിരുന്നു. നമ്മുടെ ജനങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ നിലകൊള്ളുന്ന ആദർശങ്ങളോ അനുഷ്ടാനങ്ങളോ ഒരു നിലക്കും നീതീകരിക്കാവുന്നതല്ല. പൂർവപിതാവും പ്രവാചകനുമായ ഇബ്റാഹീം(അ)ന്റെ മാർഗത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഏറെ അകലെയാണ് ജനം സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത്. ഒരു ഉപകാരമോ ഉപദ്രവമോ ചെയ്യാത്ത കേവലം പ്രതിഷ്ടകളെ അവർ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. പ്രദക്ഷിണം ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇതൊരിക്കലും ശരിയല്ല. സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ പൊതുധാരണയിൽ നിന്ന് മാറി സത്യാന്വേഷണത്തിനായി നാലുപേരും പ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തു. വറഖത് ബിൻ നൗഫൽ, ഉബൈദുല്ലാഹ് ബിൻ ജഹ്ഷ്, ഉസ്മാനുബിനുൽ ഹുവൈരിസ്, സൈദ് ബിൻ അംറ് ബിന് നുഫൈൽ ഇവരായിരുന്നു ആ നാല് പേർ.
വറഖത് ബിൻ നൗഫൽ വേദങ്ങൾ പഠിച്ചു. പല പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും ഉള്ള പണ്ഡിതന്മാരെ സന്ദർശിച്ചു. മൂസാ ഈസാ (അ) പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കി. അതേ മാർഗത്തിൽ ജീവിച്ചു. മക്കയിൽ തന്നെ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന വേദ വിജ്ഞാനിയായി. മുത്തു നബിﷺയുടെ പ്രവാചകത്വ പ്രഖ്യാപന കാലത്ത് നബിﷺയുമായി സംഭാഷണം നടത്തി. നബിﷺയെ അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും പ്രചോദനം നൽകുകയും ചെയ്തു.
ഉബൈദുല്ലാഹിബ്നു ജഹ്ഷ് പ്രത്യേകിച്ചൊരു മതവും അംഗീകരിച്ചില്ല. സ്വതന്ത്രമായി സത്യാന്വേഷണം നടത്തി. അതിനിടയിലാണ് മുത്ത് നബിﷺയുടെ നിയോഗമുണ്ടായത്. ഉബൈദിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഉമ്മുഹബീബ: പ്രാഥമിക ഘട്ടത്തിൽ തന്നെ ഇസ്‌ലാം സ്വീകരിച്ചു. ഖുറൈശീ പ്രമുഖൻ അബൂ സുഫിയാനിന്റെ പുത്രിയായിരുന്നു അവർ. ഭാര്യയെ തുടർന്ന് ഉബൈദും ഇസ്‌ലാം അംഗീകരിച്ചു. മക്കയിലെ പരീക്ഷണങ്ങൾക്ക് സാക്ഷിയായി. എത്യോപ്യയിലേക്കുള്ള സംഘത്തോടൊപ്പം ഭാര്യാസമേതം പലായനം ചെയ്തു. എന്നാൽ എത്യോപ്യയിലെത്തിയ അദ്ദേഹം ചില ക്രൈസ്തവ പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ വലയിൽ അകപ്പെട്ടു. ക്രൈസ്തവ മതം സ്വീകരിച്ചു, അവരോടൊപ്പം ചേർന്നു. പിൽക്കാലത്ത് കൃസ്ത്യാനിയായിത്തന്നെ മരണമടഞ്ഞു. ഉറച്ച വിശ്വാസിനിയായ ഉമ്മു ഹബീബ ഇസ്ലാമിൽ തന്നെ ജീവിച്ചു. പിൽക്കാലത്ത് പ്രവാചക പത്നീ പദം അലങ്കരിച്ചു. ഉമ്മു ഹബീബ(റ) വിശ്വാസികളുടെ മാതാവായി.
മൂന്നാമൻ ഉസ്മാൻ ബിൻ അൽ ഹുവൈരിസ് കുറച്ച് കൂടി പഴയ ഒരു മുഹൂർത്തത്തിലാണ് അന്വേഷണം ആരംഭിച്ചത്. സംഭവം ഇങ്ങനെയാണ്. ഒരു ഉത്സവ വേള. മേൽ പറയപ്പെട്ട മൂന്ന് പേരോടൊപ്പം ഉസ്മാനുമുണ്ട്. ജനങ്ങളെല്ലാവരും ഒരു വിഗ്രഹത്തെ പ്രീതിപ്പെടുത്തുകയാണ്. കള്ളു കുടിച്ചും കൂത്താടിയും എല്ലാം. പക്ഷേ, പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ഉറയ്ക്കുന്നില്ല. തലകുത്തിവീഴുകയാണ്. പല തവണ പരിശ്രമിച്ചിട്ടും ഫലമുണ്ടായില്ല. ഇതെന്തായിരിക്കും, എന്തോ ഒരു പ്രതിഭാസം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു. ഉസ്മാൻ ആലോചിച്ചു. എന്തായിരിക്കും ഇത്. പിന്നീടദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ബോധ്യമായി ആ രാത്രി ബീവി ആമിന(റ) മുത്ത് നബിﷺയെ പ്രസവിച്ച രാത്രിയായിരുന്നു..
പല തവണ നേരേ നിർത്തിയിട്ടും നിൽക്കാത്ത പ്രതിഷ്ടയും ബഹുദൈവ സങ്കൽപവും അർത്ഥശൂന്യമാണെന്ന് അയാൾ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു. അത് ഇതിവൃത്തമാക്കി അയാൾ ഒരു കവിതയാലപിച്ചു. തുടർന്ന് അശരീരിയായി ഒരു കവിത കേട്ടു. ബിംബങ്ങൾ മറിഞ്ഞു വീഴാനുണ്ടായ കാരണം ആ കവിതയിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. നാലംഗ സംഘത്തിന്റെ വേറിട്ട ചിന്തകളുടെ തുടക്കമതായിരുന്നുവത്രെ ഇത്.

The Prophetﷺ is growing up in Mecca as the cynosure of all. At the same time, discussions about the promised-Prophet are increasing in many parts of the world. The whole world was waiting for a messenger of goodness. There was darkness everywhere. The whole world was expecting a ray of light. Prophet became active among the people of 'Veda'. And soothsayers and pundits began to tell. Philosophers who lived in Mecca at that time began to investigate. Meanwhile, there was a festival in Mecca. The celebration of the festival was centered on the idol, named 'Buwana'... it is a continuation of the rituals that take place every year. In the meantime, the four people gathered for a very private discussion. They mutually agreed that the discussion and decisions should be secret. The essence of their discussion was this. 'The ideals or practices that the people follow now, cannot be justified in any way. They are worshiping and circumambulating mere idols which do no good or harm. This is never right. The four men vowed to seek the truth away from the general perception of society. Waraqat bin Naufal, Ubaidullah bin Jahsh, Utman ibnul Huwairith and Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail were the four persons.
Waraqath bin Noufal studied Vedas and travelled to many regions. Understood the paths of the Prophets; Moses and Jesus and lived according to their path. He became renowned Vedic scholar in Mecca. Accepted and inspired the Prophetﷺ.
Ubaiullah ibn Jahsh did not accept any particular religion. He Independently searched for the truth. It was at that time the Prophetﷺ started his mission. Ummu Habeeba (the daughter of Quraish leader Abu Sufyan), was his wife. She converted to ISLAM in an early stage. After his wife, Ubaid also accepted Islam. He witnessed the tribulations the Muslims underwent in Mecca. He migrated with his wife to Ethiopia with his group. But when he arrived in Ethiopia, he fell into the trap of some Christian priests. He accepted Christianity and joined them. Later, he died as a Christian. Ummu Habeeba, a strong believer, lived in Islam. Later, she was decorated with the title of Prophet'sﷺ wife. Ummu Habeeba(RA) became the mother of the believers.
The third, Uthman bin Al Huwairis started his search of truth before years. The incident is like this. During a festival. Uthman was present along with the three mentioned above. All the people were pleasing an idol. Drinking toddy and partying. But the icon they were worshipping does not stand firm. Whenever placed straight it fell upside down. Tried several times to no avail. What will be the reason?! There is some phenomenon. Uthman thought. What could it be? Later he was convinced that that night was the night when Amina (RA) gave birth to the Prophetﷺ.
He realised that the idol and concept of polytheism are meaningless. He sung a poem containing that idea. He heard a song from somehere that conveys the same idea.Why the images fell over was in that poem. This was the beginning of the separate thoughts of that group of four.
